Care4Kids was started by Jonas Sjösten in 2015 as a way to improve the quality of life for teenagers undergoing long-term hospital care by providing them with an enjoyable and stress-relieving online gaming experience during their hospital stay. We are now supported by 5 part-time volunteers.
Since the launch at 6 hospitals in Sweden during 2015, we are now able to reach over 300 teenagers in 4 countries. These teenagers are suffering from illnesses that force them to spend extended periods under hospital care with much of the time spent undergoing stressful and often painful treatments.
Care4Kids improves the teenagers’ hospital stay by: Giving them a care package, which includes a two-month paid for subscription to the online game Eve Online, a starter set of in-game ships and items, packaged in a personalized gift bag with filled with candy and other accessories Providing laptops with internet connection to use during their hospital stay Moving their attention from the monotony and pain of their daily treatment to an awe-inspiring, immersive and deeply social gaming experience and introducing them to an amazing and supportive global community of peers.
